ChristusG
I have an expired container of the non-stick cooking spray (canola oil). It says October of 2011. I need it and its the only one I have.....can I use it?
SailorMom
I think you can safely go by smell. Oil gets smelly when it goes rancid. If it smells ok, it is probably fine :)

Bassoonaroo
If it were Oct 1911, I'd be a bit leery but not even half a year ago. Those cans don't let germs in easily so it should be okay. Consider where it was stored (in a hot area, or cool). I agree with PPs. Spray a little in the pan (or whatever) and after the aerosol/propellant dissipates, take a whiff and if it doesn't smell bad, you'll be okay. Next time you are out shopping pick up a new can...
