Halcyon
We are working through SM 5B and supplements (Life of Fred etc) and plan to go to AoPS pre-algebra next semester. At least that's the plan right now. Threads like this one sometimes make me question everything. ;) You and me both.
LisaKinVA
I'm reading all of this, trying to make decisions for my kids. I am *not* a Discovery-type learner (at least not with math...). My kids are a mixed bag. My oldest DD and my middle DS are doing very well with Math Mammoth. My 9yo dd will finish up MM6 this year, at which point I am planning to use LoF (which she enjoys) with TT Algebra 1... I'm thinking about doing AoPS Pre-Algebra after that (to go deeper). I have AoPS Intro to Algebra and LoF Algebra... my oldest son is doing Foerster's right now as a 6th grader, and I'm thinking about extending his time with Algebra before delving into Geometry and using AoPS/LoF to do so. Would using AoPS as a "follow-up" course make it more palatable to a child who has never used "Discovery" before, or who may get overly frustrated with it?
