tullyfamily
So, I'm trying to figure out how to do Classical Conversation memory work at home. I own the Veritas Press history cards, so I'll be using those along w/ CC science cards. What else do I need to buy? Audio cds & their memory cards? What about the manual - would it be helpful for just memory work? Can someone explain what the manual contains? Since it is all on sale b/c they are updating it, I'd like to buy it now since I'm uspung VP cards. Any other tips for working at home? Thanks! JKKJ04
Are you ever wanting to join a cc group or just use t home? There is a new timeline coming out that is why I am asking. Honestly all you would need would be the Foundations guideand the timeline cards. After that the other stuff is bonus. The memory work cards are helpful and smaller than the guide to carry around but all the info is in the foundations guide. I do use the audio cd regularly for the history sentences and for skip counting but I m ure you can google kip counting ones and get mny suggestions. The foundations guide contains all the memory work in a weekly fashion. http://www.classicalconversations.com/pdffiles/Press/Foundations3rdEditionSample.pdf there is a sample. Hope that helps. tullyfamily
Just at home- too expensive for us w/ 7 children! Thanks!
JKKJ04
This blog has some great resources for using CC at home too http://halfahundredacrewood.blogspot.com/ there are others out there too but I like hers the best. You can really develop your curriculum around the CC memory work or you can do the memory work on its own.
Staceyshoe
I highly recommend the audio CDs. It's amazing what kids can learn just from listening in the car (or anywhere). The songs make history sentences a piece of cake!

arghmatey
I would get the guide and the audio. The guide has probably helped us the most--we are visual learners. We use the audio as ambient noise while driving, cleaning, and eating breakfast. We have never used the cards, but we do have them and see how they could be helpful for drilling. We don't drill CC and will not go for Memory Master. ETA: excellent point about pronunciation with the audio! Also, we focus on memorizing the information, not on singing it. JKKJ04
you could sign up for the C3 (CC Connected) forum and file sharing, they are on there and download them. I am not sure how much it is for someone not signed up for CC though. Or wait until after April/May and there will be tons for sale used. JKKJ04
Here are some more songs someone else has made but it doesn't cover the history sentences or math songs, yes the Latin pronunciation is helpful. You can hear/watch the timeline on youtube. http://zdanio.com/science.htm
TGHEALTHYMOM
:)I have 7 children and one on the way, and live too far from CC too. I lost my first guide and ordered one today. I love it for writing Memory work on a dry erase board with assignments. We listen to the cd's in the van and during Lego/ pattern block time. We take Wednesday's to do memory work, and play math games. We have been in a few groups, but it is easier to stay home. Latina Christiana is our Latin for now and Prima Latina for younger ones.
