stripe, I love your grandma. My grandma thinks I'm scandalous because we home educate. She thinks it is illegal (Texas, lol) but gives me the wink wink about it. I would reserve books rather than look for them myself. Make them do the work. Eventually they'll have to evaluate the cost and decide if they'd rather get organized or pay someone to pick out reserved books all day long.

Unless your spot as the future HBIC is guaranteed, I would shut that down.

We use the Arm's Reach Co-Sleeper. Our new baby is 4 months old. We have sex in our bed sometimes, but mostly we have sex anywhere private in our house. =) I was an evil child. If my parents ever spanked me, I would turn on the water works and get what I wanted anyway because they felt guilty. Maybe they should have spanked me harder or not spanked and then been permissive. I don't know. We do not spank. I despise forced obedience to humans, yet somehow my children do almost everything I ask. There's no secret. I treat them with the level of respect many people believe should be reserved for elders, and they treat me and other people with respect without us having to spank them to do it. My oldest daughter wants to take down Monsanto. I don't think an obedient person would be capable of such a thing. =)

I usually do not give people the benefit of the doubt and just broke up with a lifelong friend over her thinking racist jokes are funny, but is there any chance *at all* that the person is calling him "silly" in Spanish? I'm a confronter, let's deal with this now and get it out of the way. I might say, "Either you're calling my son stupid or silly in Spanish, or you're being a racially insensitive jerk. Care to clarify which one it is?"
