Sebastian (a lady)
I was looking for some essay topics and found that Penguin has free teacher guides for a bunch of their Signet Classic titles. They also have an essay contest for juniors and seniors. The work for this year is Austen's Emma.

Sebastian (a lady)
I was looking for some essay topics and found that Penguin has free teacher guides for a bunch of their Signet Classic titles. They also have an essay contest for juniors and seniors. The work for this year is Austen's Emma. So I printed out the guide for Scarlet Pimpernel. There is some pretty helpful stuff here. In addition to the standard character lists and plot synopsis, there is some historical background, a short background quiz (with answers), lower level questions as well as a few questions that we're using as a springboard for an essay. There was even a list of related artwork and mention of one piece of music specified in the book.
