Cindy in C-ville
For a geography project, we're choosing a product and researching where that product is produced. Fair trade chocolate is what my son would like to do, but we can't find a list of countries who are exporters. Can you help? TIA!
Negin
Grenada makes fabulous dark chocolate and I'm quite sure it's Fair Trade.
Jane in NC
Not a list but Theo Chocolate in Seattle only sells fair trade chocolate. Perhaps your son could drop them an email for more specifics. (Or you can drool while reading their website...)
Cindy in C-ville
Here's what I found: http://www.equalexchange.coop/chocolate-bars/ "Our organic fairly-traded gourmet chocolate bars are a rich and delicious treat that supports small-scale farmers and their families. The bars combine famous Swiss standards in chocolate making with cocoa from the farmer co-operatives CONACADO, in the Dominican Republic, COCABO, in Panama, CACVRA, in Peru, and Fortaleza del Valle co-operative in Ecuador; fairly traded organic sugar from co-operatives in Paraguay; and fairly traded vanilla from Madagascar." I was looking for sort of a database of all the companies that export the ingredients fair trade chocolate, but couldn't find this. I think this will do and not be so confusing. And yes, I'm drooling as I'm reading about the chocolate, particularly the chocolate caramel crunch with sea salt. Yum!
