SpecialClassical
Hello. I am needing suggestions for U.S. History lit to go along with a textbook study. I can't seem to find a good list to correspond with the various time periods. I am hoping to provide my daughter with a mix of biographies, non-fiction stories, and historical fiction from which to choose. Does anyone have suggestions that are challenging and engaging? mschickie
Also check out Sonlight's US Government core. There are some good books on that one.
SpecialClassical
I looked at the Sonlight U.S. History cores, but most of the list didn't seem too challenging. I'll check the government one. Thanks for the link, Sue! Keep the suggestions coming if anyone has any.:bigear:
memphispeg
We used the Norton Anthology of American Lit. It went along v. well with our US history course. It is organized fairly chronologically and has good introductory essays which tie the writings to what was going on in America at the time. We used the "Shorter Version", it was cheap and did the trick. You can pick the pieces that your student would be most likely to get something out of....all kinds of reading levels available.
