kubiac
Does anyone have any experience with The Nursery Alice? Do you recommend it? I haven't been able to forget it since I saw it in a museum bookshop. It was apparently abridged by Carroll himself for the zero to five age group! I didn't have anything to do with that, though :001_smile:, so :lurk5:
Ellie
I wish I'd known about it when my dc were little. The other Alice has so much that children won't just won't get (political references, such as the caucus race). The Nursery Alice has the bones of the story, which is just right for littles. :-)
Punchie
I have never heard of this, but it is now in my Amazon cart! Thank you!
Vida Winter
I wonder if this is the same as "Alice for the Very Young," a simpler version that we read a few years ago.

kubiac
Just wanted to share that we got this and it's very sweet. * Much more of a conspiratorial one-on-one tone than the "real" book * Everything is quite well suited for the littles as far as language and the scenes selected * The text refers directly to Tenniel's illustrations in several cases, so it's much more of a "picture book" in some ways. I found an online version as well, in case anyone's interested: http://www.aliang.net/literature/the_nursery_alice/tna_ch01.html
trlt
We purchased "The Nursery Alice" after reading this thread and my dd (almost 5) loved it! I thought it was a nice book for her since I don't think she is ready for the real book. It kept my dd engaged and she comprehended it (she would talk the next day about something that had been read to her in the story). We will probably read it many times because it seems to be her new favorite book!!
