Chelle in MO
I'm making meatloaf and ran out of breadcrumbs. I'm wondering if I could grind some Quaker Old Fashioned oats in my little chopper-thingy and use a cup of those instead. Would I get similar taste/results? Thanks! MeaganS
You certainly can. The meatloaf recipe we use calls for oats and no bread crumbs. Especially if you chop them up, I would think you'll be just fine. There might be a slight difference, but we like them!
QumaCote
I often use oatmeal for some of the bread crumbs in meatloaf, and it tastes great. The other thing I sometimes do is toast the ends of a loaf of bread and grind it up. Enjoy!
Chelle in MO
Perfect, ladies! Thanks! I'll do it!
Mynyel
Yup and you don't even need to grind them :) My mom used to use them in meatloaf when she ran out of saltines. She never used bread crumbs!
Chelle in MO
Thanks, everybody! I made the meatloaf tonight w/ some chopped oats in place of some of the bread crumbs. Worked perfectly! I might just use all oats next time...
