heidip2p
If you use either All About Spelling or All About Reading can you tell me about how long it takes you per day? We had AAS 1 but then I sold it becuase I was afraid it would take to long for me to teach it. Now I am really wishing we had kept it. :( Also curious about AAR too. :)
Aurelia
AAS takes us between 5 and 15 minutes a day, primarily depending on whether a new concept is being introduced and how much focus DD has on a given day.
MerryAtHope
I actually set a timer and do 15 minutes for my 7th grader, and 20 minutes for my 9th grader. I spend a little less time for my dd because I get better concentration from her when the time is slightly shorter. The author recommends 20 minutes per day, but says to adjust for your situation. AAR is similar--20 minutes on the lesson, and then another 20 minutes of the parent reading aloud to the child (which you probably do anyway). Again, adjust to your child's needs. Short daily lessons are better than longer but fewer sessions. All of their materials are made to be done at the child's pace, so you can pick up wherever you left off the previous day. HTH! Merry :-)
nicholsonhomeschool
We do as much as we can of AAS in 15 minutes. Then I stop and pick up the next day where we left off. Level One went pretty quickly with both boys (~ 4 months). My older is now in Level 4 and spends about a week on each lesson. I'll say we are big AAS fans! stm4him
We do about 10-30 minutes a day with AAS2 (both my older two are in the same book on different steps) and about 20 minutes or less (not including coloring) with AAR PL1 (for my 3 and 4 year old). stm4him
Lisa in the UP of MI
I spend about 30 minutes twice a week with AAS 3 (this completes 1 step a week) with my 7yo and about 15 minutes 2 times a week on AAR pre-1 with my almost 4yo (we do one step each day). tkdkidsmom
I use AAS with my soon to be 6yo dd as a phonics program. Our sessions last about 5-10 minutes, and I aim for 3x per week.
