mooooom
When we toured colleges, I noticed that most of them use the Library of Congress classification for filing books. Has anyone found a worksheet type tutorial thing online that I could use with the kids. Seemed like it might be a good thing to be prepared for. Moira in MA
Many (most?) libraries offer an orientation to students around frosh week that includes this plus an orientation to other library services such as database access. dd1 took one last year. She found it very useful. hth ~Moira
Jane in NC
Our regional university allows area residents to acquire a library card for a small fee. I did this so that my son would become familiar with the Library of Congress system as well as give us access to a wide range of materials not available in the public library. Even without a card, you could certainly use the library for research purposes and become acquainted with it that way. Sounds like a field trip!
