Down_the_Rabbit_Hole
If your looking for just fun games: Any of the Lego games for DS are fun Mario Cart, not the 3DS, but an older version. Scooby Doo games are fun for that age.

TXBeth
:bigear: I had the same question, except mine is a girl. I was thinking something Mario, scribblenauts, Nintendogs, Animal Crossing (although it's super pricy). Any other great ones?

FYI, my 10 year old has Scribblenauts and loves it but you have to be a pretty good speller. My DD loves the Little Pet Shop games but she also loves LPS. ETA: My DD also loves Cooking Mama. carriecs
Both my six year old son & my almost-5 year old daughter greatly enjoy playing the Crayola Treasures Adventures DS game. They also enjoy Mario Karts. And I enjoy that these are games they don't need me to set up or help them play!
