Kirsten in MO
My freshman ds is taking calc 3 and preparing for a test on Monday. Unfortunatley, some of the material is going to come from topics that haven't been taught yet...my ds has looked at some topics on Khan academy, but I'm wondering if there is some other online help he could go to. The text he is using is University Calculus (Pearson) . I sure wish the test wasn't Monday! Thanks! Kirsten
AngieW in Texas
Maybe this will be helpful? http://wps.aw.com/aw_thomas_calculus_11/ http://wps.aw.com/aw_thomas_calculus_11/29/7661/1961402.cw/index.html http://interactmath.com/ Scroll down to Thomas' Calculus and choose the textbook he has. Generally, the edition doesn't make much difference for this application.
Teachin'Mine
I don't know if Brightstorm goes up to Calculus 3 or not, but you may want to put in the topics and see if they cover them. I'd also suggest getting to the college library and seeing if they have any books which may help, or even calling the college to see if their math tutoring is available or if there's anyone he can call for help. It may not do any good at this late date, but he may want to send an e-mail to his professor asking for suggestions. Could he get help from a local math tutor or engineer or ... Did a quick search and these sites came up: http://tutorial.math.lamar.edu/Classes/CalcIII/CalcIII.aspx http://www.mathvids.com/topic/mathhelp/7-calculus-iii http://www.videomathteacher.com/107.html HTH Sounds like a good learning opportunity has come up for him. :) I hope he's able to work through the topics so it's a gentle lesson. :tongue_smilie:
beaners
Is that the Briggs/Cochran text? Is there any chance that the class has an online homework component? My local college switched to that text because it worked with what they called a lab component. It was really just doing homework problems online, but it also had review sections. He probably doesn't have it available if you're looking for other resources, but perhaps it's a feature the school suggests but doesn't require?
