  1. I don't seem to be able to copy and paste a word document of books for sale from my computer onto the for sale board...I mean, I can copy it, but when I try to paste it by right clicking with my mouse, there is no option for pasting...what might the problem be? thanks, Kirsten
  2. I keep seeing commercials on TV for Lumosity, the website with various games that are suppose to improve your brain. Just wondering if anyone has used, or is using, the website for themselves or their kids and if they feel it has helped in any way. Thanks! Kirsten
  3. Thank you all for the suggestions! I will do a search on the Sansa Fuze and will see what kind of deal I can find on a used iPod...I very much appreciate you ladies taking the time to help me out! :-) ~Kirsten
  4. I am looking for suggestions on what to buy to download and listen to audio books in the car, etc. I am so techno illiterate...I know nothing about all the mp3 players or other devices that people use for things. I don't own a fancy phone, just one of those old trac phones. I think something that would make it easy to access chapters and start and stop without loosing my place...any suggestions? Thanks so much! Kirsten (the techno dinosaur)
  5. Has anyone taken the Creative Writing class that can give a critique? Thanks! Kirsten
  6. Thank you for the responses! You all answered my questions. :001_smile: Kirsten
  7. I want to have my son take the online Geometry with Derek Owens, but can't seem to find on the website how many lectures there are. Is there a lecture for each lesson in each chapter, or one per chapter? Would my son be watching a lecture each day before he does his assigned work? Thanks for the help!! Kirsten
  8. Wow, thanks, Negin! I do have the bulgy, varicose veins along with the spider veins. I have a bad one down my thigh and some bulgy ones on my calf and behind my knee. Ugh! I just hate them. I got them when I was pregnant with my second child, and they are getting worse I think as I get older (I'll be 50 in less than 2 weeks). I do follow all of the tips that you put at the end; my weight is good, I do strength training and put 2-4 miles on my treadmill 6 days a week, don't cross my legs (it is uncomfortable for me to do with my left leg anyway), have been trying to wear support stockings, and if I need to be in one spot for long I try to sit and elevate my feet for a while. I was unaware of the other suggestions regarding the foods to eat. I do eat a food amount of fiber and blueberries, I cook with a fair amount of onions and garlic, and use little to no salt (and don't eat salty snacks). I have been taking extra vitamin E, but now that I look at the label, it says dl-Alpha, so I guess I need to look for a good brand that is d-Alpha instead. I didn't even know there was a difference! I looked at some horse chestnut and some of the brands contain butcher's broom and the gotu kola...do you think it is better to take it all separately, or do you know of a brand that combines them all in the appropriate amounts? I have been to a vein doctor, but my insurance doesn't want to cover the treatment that he wants to do, so I would like to see if I can at least stop my leg from getting any worse. Some improvement would be awesome if that is possible! I have also seen that there are topical applications...do you think the oral suppplements are the best way to go? Thanks for all your help! Kirsten
  9. I have bad veins in my left leg, and have had some stripping done many years ago but continue to have problems. I have read that horse chestnut can help...has anyone actually used this for veins, and has it helped? Side effects? Some days it seems that the compression stockings just make my leg feel worse... ~Kirsten
  10. This topic has really been on my mind lately! With my oldest in college, I am starting to feel like the years are going by so quickly and before I know it, my youngerst (freshman) will be graduating and going off, and I will be obsolete. I am already feeling obsolete some of the time, as my two youngest are becoming more and more independent, and seem to like it that way. I still do some things with my youngest, but most of the time he just wants to work on his own. I have a few years yet before I need something else to do besides home school, but I have definitely been thinking about it. I look forward to what others have to say about their "after homeschooling" plans. I need ideas...
  11. I am using the Dive Biology with my son this year and we are using the 3rd edition. The syllabus I downloaded is for the 3rd edition, but there may be one for the 4th it that is what you want to use. ~Kirsten
  12. Ester Maria, I always read your posts with great interest. I am curious where you grew up and went to school (if that is not too nosy of me :001_smile:)I went to a rural high school in eastern Texas...not very rigourous to be sure. ~Kirsten
