Punks in Ontario
I've been obsessing over how to teach my guys HTML for a bit. Does anyone have any ideas for what to use for beginner programmers? They're enjoying Visual Basic right now and I'm planning on having them learn Java soon. angela in ohio
I have spent a few weeks poring over books at our libraries reading books on (X)HTML and deciding which was the best choice for a beginner, and I finally ordered the book we are using for dd's web design course this year. Believe it or not, HTML, XHTML, and CSS for Dummies was the most clear and comprehensive beginning book I could find. For Java, we use Head Start Java, and I highly recommend it. It helped me get through my first Java Programming college class last year when the dry Java textbook failed me at times.
Plink
For a quick narrative overview of HTML5 you might want to look at the e-book "What-Is-HTML5?" It's not a how-to, but for free you will get a decent introduction and an interesting look at the history of its development.
