quick crock pot ?

Busy day today. I'm making dinner now. Italian sausage with peppers and onions. When it's done, will it be safe putting it in the crock pot on low for about 3 hours, or am I better off popping it the fridge to be reheated at dinner time?

I just saw that the crock pot does in fact have a keep warm setting. I think I'll keep it on low until I have to run out, since I was careful to leave the peppers on the lightly sauteed side, and then switch it to low.
