ButterfliesandBooks
I'd like recommendations for a poetry curriculum for my 13 year old dd please. I didn't have it scheduled for this term, but she has asked for one. We haven't studied or looked at poetry before (other than reading it aloud now and again). She is quite a strong reader and writer, and ideally I'd like a curriculum that she can just open and go with. Also something that perhaps teaches not only the mechanics of poetry, but encourages writing your own as well? Thanks in advance. :)

ladydusk
I'll give you a :lurk5: and a possible link. Classical Academic Press' The Art of Poetry I haven't used it, but have heard good things about it.
Cindyg
I thought MCT had a poetry curriculum that everyone was raving about a few months ago.
ButterfliesandBooks
Thanks for your replies. I have looked at both of those, but it looks like they need 'teaching' - if you know what I mean! I'd like something my daughter can use independently, just open and go - if such a thing exists! I'll keep looking :)
Momling
Check out "Painless Poetry" by Mary Elizabeth. It's a self-teaching kind of book, aimed at middle or high schoolers. I have it on my shelf, but haven't used it. I think it'd be a pretty good choice for something open and go.
FrogMom5
Look at the IEW site. I haven't used it but I think they have a poetry curriculum that is self-teaching. Denise
