Scheduling Apples and Pears

How do you schedule AAP? I am starting book A with a bright 1st grader and a struggling 2nd grader. The are only 66 levels in book A. Is the book to last a year or are you supposed to do 2 books a year?

I'm a little worried because the words at the end of the book are rather advanced.

I did 1/2 a lesson a day, completing 2 lessons a week. (So, we did it 4x a week.) I think more w/ a struggling second grader would be too much. My goal was to just complete the first book. We did end up starting the second in the spring. There are only 4 books and I feel the ending level is higher than fourth grade so there is no rush.

1 page a day is as much as we can do. It starts off deceptively easy, but at level 15 it becomes a lot of writing.

1 level per week after level 15 is not unreasonable for young ones. I have taken those dictation sentences and made them into copywork (stretching out a level into a whole week) before dictation day.
