kubiac
I've been doing a lot of sign language w/ my 16-month-old boy lately and we both really enjoy it. (Today he saw a crocodile on the cover of a book that I just put on the shelf and he said "Book!" and for the first time, showed me that he'd learned the sign for crocodile!) Anyway, I've noticed that a lot of books we're reading include many words we've (or I've) learned signs for and I'd love to sign what I can to reinforce the vocabulary in both English and ASL. The problem is that I can't figure out how to hold the book and sign two-hand signs at the same time! Has anyone else had this problem? If yes, how did you solve it? Maybe a music stand to hold up the book or something? Your thoughts would be much appreciated!
Doodle
I sat on the floor with Doodle to sign and read. I just placed the book on the floor.
kubiac
Ha, that sounds like a plan! We've been reading aloud during mealtimes, but I'll just prop the book somehow or move us to the floor. Thanks. :)
Rosie_0801
It's fun for now. Later, when you want to work on ASL grammar, you'll need to stop. (I only really do this with 'Brown Bear, Brown Bear' and just have the book on my lap. I almost know it off by heart, so I don't need to read.)
