Update on dd with weighted blanket

Recommended Posts

We have had the weighted blanket for a few days now. One night she never woke up. And the other nights she has gotten up once. She will wake up, come in our room and sleep on a sleeping bag with her new blanket on top of her. She sleeps all night. This morning she actually woke up and stayed under her blanket for awhile. She is now bringing it downstairs with her. ;) My mom and I are thinking of making a lap "animal" for school time or tv time or anytime. We may take a look at the cheaper "pillow pets" that Walmart had, slit them open and add a bag of removeable weight. This way it can be washed. Our youngest dd wants a weighted blanket now. ;) Actually, so do I. :D

Wonderful news! I hope the problem is solved for good. I don't remember if you said- where did you purchase the blanket & do they have regular adult-sized, adult-looking blankets? We have gotten no good suggestions to help us with our son's sleep issues & I'm about ready to try something like this out of desperation.

Cool idea! I've always been happiest sleeping under multiple blankets, but its mostly a weight thing... fluffy comforters/think blankets & warm room, not so good.

If you can't find a weighted blanket, can you just do layers of quilts?

You can make your own weighted blanket fairly easily. Some folks sew on large washers, others add weighted pellets in pockets... there was a thread on here once with instructions and websites if I remember correctly.
