Dee in MI
A Study in Scarlet is long, but it introduces the characters well.

Book Crazy
My son has really enjoyed all of the ones that we have read so far, but The Hound of the Baskervilles has been his favorite.
gardenschooler
My 8th grade dd loves Sherlock Holmes. She read The Adventures and Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes a couple of months ago - one story just isn't enough for her! If either of yours get hooked on it, this might be a good one to have around.
