Mirna05
I see CC reorder the Veritas History cards to be strictly cronological. I bought the teachers manuals and cds, can I use them if I follow CC order? Moms at CC use the teachers manual? What do you think of this time line? Thanks! Tiberia
I have the VP cards, but I'm going to use them in the CC order because I want my dd to have a chronological list of historical events. This means the VP audio CDs won't work for us. Their songs are grouped by category, not chronologically. But, I did find some youtube samples of songs for the CC order: I believe this is what you get when you put all the VP cards in chronological order. I just printed out the list and marked which songs the kids were singing. We'll modify the songs to make it work for us, but it think it will be fun. Here's a list of what they're singing: 1. Creation 2. The Fall in the Garden 3. Cain and Abel 4. The Flood 5. Tower of Babel 6. Unification of Upper and Lower Egypt by Pharoah Menes 7. Tiberia
wow thanks a lot!Are you using the teachers books? No. I haven't even looked at the teachers' books. I'm using Story of the World for the stories (kid LOVES listening to the audio CDs), and we do some of the activities in SOTW. We did SOTW1 last year and will do SOTW2 starting next month for 2nd grade. I'm adding the VP history cards just to give my kiddo an overall look/feel for history. Plus, she loves memorizing things right now, so I think she'll have fun with it. Maybe someone else can add something about the VP teacher books. wehave8
I am disappointed in the CC Ancient World Timeline Cards. :( When I see the list just posted, and compare that to what CC does, I am rethinking what I want to do. The CC cards never mention Cain & Abel, The Ten Commandments, and many other Biblical people. It just seems there is a lot missing if you don't remember what's on the back of the cards. Even then, there's a lot not mentioned that is in the VP list. :confused1: Pam
mrs.m
There's a number of missing events from the VP list as well that CC decided to include.
amselby81
I have both sets, since we started CC when they used the VP cards. They both do have their advantages and disadvantages. I prefer the new timeline though, b/c it covers more countries after the 1700's. it seems that the VP cards really focus a lot on US history after the US is founded. But I do like that the VP cards coverlet in the ancients. There is a lot more about ancient Egypt and Mesopotamia in the VP cards. I like that when we listen to SOTW that they mention these things and I am able to refer back to the VP cards. Like the Code of Hammarabi. Anyway, I don't plan to get rid of my VP cards for this reason.
