Melinda S in TX
Dh needs to brush up on his college algebra (taken a long time ago) before he takes pre-cal this fall. Currently we are going through the Systematic Mathematics algebra 1 and 2 sections I already have on hand. Dh loves the dvd format. What exactly is college algebra? What does it cover that is not covered in regular algebra 1 and 2? Any recommendations? Dh is a slow reader, so dvds would be a plus, but not absolutely required. Jann in TX
College Algebra is an extension of Algebra 2. It is also the first semester/half of a Pre-calc course. It contains advanced functions, matrices, and a bunch of other advanced algebra topics. You might look into ALEKS at least for a trial it will show what his weak areas are and go from there. AngieW in Texas
These links might be helpful. http://www.stitz-zeager.com/Free_College_Algebra_Book_Download.html This is a link to precalculus and college algebra textbooks that are available online for free. College Algebra is the first 9 chapters of the precalculus textbook (trig is the last 2 chapters). If you scroll further down on the site I linked above, there are also videos that go along with the textbook. This site has free lectures for high school math and science that I think are very good. http://www.brightstorm.com/math
