iona
My boys are 6.5 and almost 5. I'd love to hear your recommendations. Thanks!
simka2
This series is my all time favorite. We did a large timeline off of it! http://www.amazon.com/Cretaceous-Life-Prehistoric-World-Books/dp/0764134833/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1305344261&sr=8-

cholderby
My 6yo son loves: http://http://www.amazon.com/Dinosaur-Museum-Unforgettable-Interactive-Virtual/dp/1426303351/ref=pd_sim_b_4 http://http://www.amazon.com/First-Dinosaur-Encyclopedia-DK-Publishing/dp/0756625394/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1305376044&sr=1-2-spell His all time favorite: http://www.amazon.com/Complete-Guide-Dinosaurs-CHRIS-MCNAB/dp/184566082X/ref=sr_1_2?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1305376149&sr=1-2 we read this before bed every.single.night! I find it rather dry, but he loves it. I'm fairly certain that it does not contain a bronotosaurus listing, but it does contain triceratops. I know the brotosaurus/apatosaurus controversy has been settled, I'm not completely sure if the triceratops/torosaurus is still being debated or not. Just putting that out there in case your son is a stickler for up-to-date info.:D
KristenR
My dd is still going through a dinosaur phase and I recently asked this same question. You can see that thread here Also, I don't know if you have come across it or not but my daughter loves the Chased By Dinosaurs Series with Nigel Marven. There is also a new Nigel Marven series out that we just purchased called Prehistoric Park. Both of them have my dd's seal of approval! Also, I blogged a post about my daughter's interest in dinosaurs awhile back. You can see some of the things we've done here.
Lovedtodeath
Okay the best non-fiction book for this age ever is Wee Sing and Learn Dinosaurs. Here is a pdf that has the whole book pretty much written out for you sans pictures. www.weesing.com/songSheets/lyricLearnDinosaurs.pdf The book comes with a CD that you can read along to. The News About Dinosaurs by Patricia Lauber is a nice Non-fiction one because it is not too large and has realistic pictures. Then for fiction DS loves Dinos to Go by Sandra Boynton. Loves it. We got it from the library, renewed it four times and finally bought our own. Each 2 page spread is a poem about a different type of dinosaur (they have people like personalities). Don't forget Danny and the Dinosaur. My DD really liked that one at this age, along with other similar books. Sonlight has a book called Dinosaurs Unleashed which is the best YE Dino book (I am a cryptozoology nut so I have read them all, some are very disappointing).
