cdrumm4448
DS told me recently he doesn't like to read. (Why don't you just stab me in the heart, dear boy! I am a dedicated, voracious reader who used to call in sick to school just to stay home and read Jane Austen one more time!) He reads independently for 20 minutes a day for school. I have been having him work through classics. But, he loves to read Diary of a Wimpy Kid. What other series are there out there that have a comic book format? I want him to love to read, like I do, so I'm willing to meet him in the middle.
GardenGirl639
There are quite a few graphic novel history series that we get from the library. I can't remember all of the "names." Here's one I quickly found on Amazon. http://www.amazon.com/Lewis-Clark-Expedition-Graphic-History/dp/0736896554/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1302279222&sr=1-1 Graphic novel science (Max Axiom character) http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Dstripbooks&field-keywords=graphic+novel+atom&x=0&y=0#/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Dstripbooks&field-keywords=max+axiom&rh=n%3A283155%2Ck%3Amax+axiom
funmamacita
Have you tried the Big Nate books by Lincoln Peirce? (I always feel like I am spelling the author's name wrong!) They are similar to Diary of a Wimpy Kid. He might also enjoy the Calvin and Hobbes series -- it's comic strips not just comic strip style, but the vocabulary and ideas are actually pretty good. Kareni
A friend whose children are about the same age as yours heartily recommends the Chester Comix series. Here's a link to one. Regards, Kareni

cdrumm4448
Lord help me, but he likes Captain Underpants. We do have Chester Comix, so I need to pull those out, too. I'm also going to persuade him to look at some of the suggestions. Thanks!
