What comes after Algebra 2

Recommended Posts

Non-mathy ds, with one semester of school left (we are graduating him in Dec.) needs one more math credit. He's almost done with Algebra 2. I've heard several options--

One semester Trig (short semester, over the summer), one semester analytic geometry

One year pre-cal (not sure if this isn't the same as above!)

Full year analytic geom

Full year Trig

Not sure what to do. I was thinking TT Pre-calc, as it seems sort of like the first option, and his dad can teach it but ds can also do some of it alone. Just not sure. Any ideas? BTW, he's used a mishmash of things for math--some Jacobs, some Aleks, some TT, and a book from a garage sale this year for "intermediate algebra" that dh says is Al. 2.

but if you just want an easy credit than have him do TT. I don't know if they have the CD's out that goes with them so he might have to teach himself from the book but it looks like a very easy course. Can he attend a local CC as a dual-enrolee. He could take one of their math courses such as statistics.

He is going to college, but not for a math-type major. I think he may take something next Spring, like Math for Liberal Arts Majors, which will transfer. He's going to CC next year, one semester for two classes, and 5 classes (full-time) after we graduate him in Dec.

It continues Algebra 2 concepts. It is a one semester course.

Pre-Calculus is a combination of one semester of College Algebra and one semester of Trigonometry.

My non-mathy dd will only need College Algebra for the certification she wants to get through our local community college.
