sheryl
I would like to gather information about having my daughter homeschool at home, but via the computer. Don't even know what to ask y'all for....name-wise. Aren't they called cyber schools? Do you have any recommendations for Christian/faith-based on-line courses or academies? I know Abeka and BJU offer "distance learning", but I'm asking for others. What are the pros and cons? Cost? Per subject or a full load? Honestly, any information with links would be appreciated. THANKS!
Parrothead
I can't tell you about any specific cyber school since I have no actual experience using one. One big con I can think of, is like with any faith-based boxed curriculum, if you are not fully on-board with the way the faith is presented, you'll be explaining why or why not your family believes as it does. So if you are going with faith-based, make sure it matches up with your faith or at least the faith you are trying to instill.
Michelle in AL
We like Veritas Press, it is reformed, we're not, but dd hasn't taken any classes that use that worldview. We also are very happy with Potter's school. Cost is $400-550/class. I'm not sure if the cost is less if you everythign with Veritas. My3Boys
Ds took 2 years online with Veritas Press. We found it to be an excellent program. Many of the teachers also teach at the school in PA. www.veritaspress.com It is reformed in doctrine and conservative. ETA: If you do decide to enroll, don't wait too long. Many of the classes, especially Omnibus, fill up quickly.
sheryl
That's you all! I forgot about this thread until now. Appreciate it and will check out VeritasPress. Thanks Parrotthead, you are right about "lining up". Didn't think about that. Anyone else care to share? :bigear:
