justasque
Audible.com has a zillion versions of Treasure Island, which we are studying in co-op. I'm overwhelmed with the choices, so I'm looking for suggestions. (Librivox might do, also, if it's good.) If you've listened to this story on audio, I need recommendations for two things: 1. An unabridged version with a good reader - any suggestions? 2. Possibly a dramatized version. There are several - has anyone listened to any of them? I'm inclined to go with the BBC version, but I'd like to hear suggestions. Thanks!
Jane Elliot
On a long trip our entire family enjoyed the unabridged version read by Alfred Molina. Even I liked him, and I am very picky about readers.
kitten18
I listened to a version narrated by Neil Hunt. I thought it was very good. I got it from Net Library, through our library system.
justasque
Thanks ladies - that narrows it down a bit! Anyone else listened to a dramatization? I thought a short version with full dramatization might be a good way to intro the story before going into the full text - easier to understand the vintage language if you have a sense of where things are going (for this kid, anyway). Photo Ninja
Jim Weiss has a good storytelling version of Treasure Island. Not quite a dramatization, but very well done. My dc loved it. I think it would accomplish your goal.
Brilliant
Jim Weiss has a good storytelling version of Treasure Island. Not quite a dramatization, but very well done. My dc loved it. I think it would accomplish your goal. I was going to suggest that. We enjoyed it and it's short & sweet; only an hour or so, I think.
