After some research, we have decided to look into testing for our 4th grader. We are not required to do so, but we feel like we need to get a glimpse of how our DD is progressing after one year of homeschooling. Does anyone have any experience with the Stanford Achievement Test 10 or the OLSAT 10 in the younger grades? Any advice on whether test prep is necessary?

Much appreciated in advance!

Our umbrella school does require testing and they use the SAT-10. We've tested 1st-4th grades. The test prep books focus only on math & la and not on science or social studies. I think the books are helpful for showing how the testing works (filling in bubbles, wording of questions, etc.).

If you truly want to know how she is doing, the only test prep necessary is talking over and practicing the basic skills needed for testing: time management, bubbling, etc. The Spectrum test prep books for each grade work well for that.

:iagree:

If you are anywhere near Red Oak, TX (South Dallas) I am doing a group testing in May.

I was going to post a thread, but this will be a good one too.

We are testing with Stanford as well. The test has science and social studies questions as well as LA and math.

Is the test bubble only? I ask because the Spectrum test prep is one I've been looking at, but it has a lot of fill in the blank.

Yes, bubble only.
