Mrs Mungo
There was damage from the get-go. It's a travesty. http://hyperallergic.com/17815/egyptian-museum-damage/ http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2011/01/30/AR2011013004086.html?wprss=rss_world
pqr
The sad fact is that it may get worse before it gets better. It should put an end to any stuff about Egypt asking for the return of objects from other museums. Egyptian antiquities are far safer in the Getty, the British Museum and the Met than they are in Egypt, it appears.

Those artifacts are significant to Egypt for reasons beyond a desire to preserve the past....
