duckymama
I have been reading through TWTM again and trying to figure out logic stage. (My oldest will be in 5th grade next year.) Here is my question on word study/spelling/vocab. (p337 TWTM) The book says if we use Spelling Workout through book H, we do not need extra word study. We would start Vocabulary from Classical Roots A in 7th. If we use Spelling Power, we need to have extra word study. The recommendation is adding Vocabulary from Classical Roots 4, 5, and 6 in 5th and 6th grade. What if we use All About Spelling? Does anyone know if there is enough word study or should we add in the books SWB recommends? Thanks for your thoughts!
ELaurie
and ds 11 is also using Roots of English this year.

brownie
I think the point is that spelling workout is more than just spelling, while spelling power is not. ds10 uses random spelling lists :) and so he is using vocab from classical roots. He has also done vocab vine which worked nicely for him, though it seemed tedious and dull to me. ds8 uses spelling workout and it has phonics, editing, synonyms... We are also trying to figure out fifth grade next year! Good luck! brownie
oraetstudia
We're using Spelling Workout, but also doing MCT's Caesar's English for vocab. My oldest loves Caesar's English, so although it may not be necessary, it isn't a burden to do.
angela in ohio
I just looked at the AAS site. I think I read that she plans to add more levels, but at this point, the last levels (5 and 6) don't seem to contain any roots work (or anything that could be considered "word study" like SWO has.) So you would follow the plan for someone using Spelling Power.
