St. Artemius Academy
Can anyone give some reviews on Writing Strands? I have both a 2nd and 5th grader, and am considering using WS 2 and 3 respectively. We primarily use the Charlotte Mason method, and I'd like the option of broadening our writing to more than narrations. Thanks!
Ellie
I prefer to wait until dc are able to do Level 3; Level 2 is way too directed for me. But Level 3 and up...if I were hsing again, Writing Strands would be my first choice. I just love the way it teaches dc to write.
lionfamily1999
My oldest is using it and enjoying it. With my older ds, though, we've used Writing with Ease and I feel like he's getting a better understanding of the mechanics of writing. I will not be using WS with him. I tried once, as a supplement to WWE. He hated it. Sorry for the mixed review.
MerryAtHope
I like a lot of things about WS (we're using Level 3). I like that it breaks writing down into smaller pieces, and I like most of the examples he gives. Occasionally I disagree with one, but it's easy to move past that when necessary. I also like the philosophy of focusing mainly on things to encourage and just finding one thing to fix. My dd is enjoying it and my son who hates writing says he "doesn't hate" WS. Doesn't love it but he's willing to continue it and finds it "less annoying" than other things we've tried, LOL! I'll take that. Merry :-)
