johnandtinagilbert
My son would benefit from some lectures to enhance his biology. He is an auditory and visual learner, but doesn't enjoy listening to the book on CD or reading all that much. I was hoping some lectures may do the trick for him since he does enjoy lectures for math (loves math, anyways) and is doing very well w/ Chalkdust DVDs. Thank you! Keniki
Not Teaching Company, but have you seen Khan Academy? They have free videos for math and science.
serendipitous journey
... my oldest is still in K :o but I myself found "Biology: The Science of Life" with Stephen Nowicki to be an excellent TC course. I have several years postgrad training in biology, and a masters in neuroscience, and found the lectures interesting, enlightening and accurate. I did NOT enjoy Robert Hazen's "Joy of Science" course; it seemed quite dry. Both, of course, explicitly assume & expound evolutionary science. Finally, I see the Teaching Company has some courses by Robert Sapolsky on stress/the brain. He's a terrific lecturer, an engaging and (within the neuroscience community) somewhat controversial character, and would be a treat to watch. He is guaranteed to Spark An Interest. Not a good general bio intro. but maybe try for it from your library system, or as a summer supplement?
