mo2
My 8yo still can't seem to hear the difference between short e or short i in a word, so when she spells, she just guesses, I think. When should this become a major concern, and what do I do about it?
Guest
If this is the only problem, I wouldn't worry about it yet. My dd couldn't tell the difference until she was around ten or eleven. I have no idea how or when exactly it changed; but one day she just could distinguish them. I always tried to be very clear in my pronunciation, but I don't think that was the main trigger. susankenny
Both of my kids had the same issue. We would just review by saying "icky egg" when they were confused. It sounds weird, but it helped. Susan
