It's the 45 yr anniv of The Sound of Music, and a perfect time to introduce this classic as a learning tool.:lurk5:

Take My Favorite Things and substitute the history facts for each line or phrase. So " raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens" may become "Ferdinand Magellan sailed round South America". You do the first line to demonstrate and then let your DC each add a line. (SINGING! :D)

It's really so much easier than you'd imagine. Don't over-think it, Just Do It.

My Favorite Things is written in 3/4 time, like a waltz or lullaby. This is the best beat or rhythm for learning. Lullabies work because the 3/4 beat relaxes the mind and body. For learning, it helps the mind focus in a relaxed state.

Want to make the learning even stronger in the memory? Include dancing, skipping, arm movements. The more the whole body is involved in the music/tempo, the stronger the learning gets. :hurray:
