melmichigan
Do you take these from the model or another source? My DD came out of PS for LA so I doubt she has any experience with either. Any recommendations on how to start?
elfinbaby
I'm a newbie to CW but I get mine from one of those Mott Media readers - I forget the name just now. There is a set of them. I just happen to have them on the shelf. Otherwise, I would get a novel, short story, or other example of excellent writing and use a sentence or two. I choose my sentence(s) based on what I want to "test." I want to make sure ds understands basic and complex punctuation, spelling, etc.
MrsMe
Spelling Wisdom on the simply Charlotte Mason site. Looks wonderful and very inexpensive.
NancyNellen
I take it all from the model. I figure that's where all the spelling/punctuation we are working on is found, so it makes sense to reinforce that.
siloam
Do you take these from the model or another source? My DD came out of PS for LA so I doubt she has any experience with either. Any recommendations on how to start? From the model here. Though my oldest asked to be able to instead copy her finished papers (she types them) and I allowed that. But I also do it daily rather than all on one day. We are little bit at a time people. My dd does 5 mins of copywork a day, and one sentence of dictation. But starting with someone new I would have them do the same sentence first as copywork then as dictation, unless they happen to have a fabulous memory and don't need to see it first. Most kids do better with what I call studied dictation. I also don't keep the focus SWB does on holding it in the mind. I record it for them in mini-recorder so if needed they do rewind.
