Caraway
I am trying to use WP's Animals And Their Worlds in a secular way. I had not realized that the creationist book The World of Animals was used as a spine. Could someone give me a suggestion for a secular replacement? I can't find any images of the inside of the text, so I don't even really know what I am trying to replace. Help!
truebluexf
Hmmmm wow that's not what they used to use! It used to be the DK Encyclopedia of Animals.
Caraway
Hmmmm wow that's not what they used to use! It used to be the DK Encyclopedia of Animals. They still use the DK Encyclopedia of Animals. However they seem to be using the World of Animals as a secondary spine. I say seem because I don't actually have the book, and am only going by the assignments on the guide sheets.
truebluexf
OK, I just looked at their site. How old is your child? I'd probably just skip it. We never used Glow in the Dark Fish, either, even though DS was 2nd grade. I felt there was really enough there without it for him. I bet you could get an Usborne book or something to complement the DK one? Just wanted to add they removed a great series of books, all about animal behavior. They were awesome and I can't believe they aren't using them anymore, we loved them! They would be a good addition.

Anything google-able?
SnowWhite
Here is a link to the Animal Behavior series. http://www.acornnaturalists.com/Animal-Behavior-Series-C429.aspx I would totally skip the World of Animals book if you don't want the creationism. Originally the AW program did not include that book, it was merely "tacked on". Another book which used to be part of the program, but is now OOP is Kids Wildlife Book. http://www.amazon.com/Kids-Wildlife-Book-Williamson-Can/dp/0913589772 It might beef things up for you suitably.
