Jumaanah
Hello! How and where do you get your home-schooling resources and supplies? Especially books.
UmMusa
Hi Jumaanah, I'm not living in the ME right now, but I have in the past. I wonder if you could hook up with a school, language center, or cultural center and see if you could order books and materials with them or through them (assuming they might have a supplier or an arrangement). Otherwise, I think it would be really difficult. I am about to ship a small box with newborn/nursing items to my SIL and I'm afraid it'll cost about $100 just to get it there. Kate in Arabia
The bulk of my materials I get from the States; we visit home every summer, so in advance of that I order everything and have it shipped to my parents' house to pick up and carry back. I get some things from local bookstores here; I have also ordered from Amazon.com and Amazon.co.uk. Dh and I keep a sharp eye out for any used book sales -- mostly folks who are moving; and there are occasional book fairs here. Our local library is not very helpful to me, but since my dh works for a local college system I have access to the college libraries (all campuses); and they have interlibrary loan agreements with other universities here, so theoretically I have access to that too. They actually have a fair amount of easy reader books listed (because they teach ESL) and classic works, but mostly I use it for videos. So if you have a college or university nearby that could be an option. hth!
