SailorMom
I was told that speech recognition software had improved enourmously. Anyone use it and love it? If so - which one???
RamonaQ
No. But I have heard Dragon rec. before. I have also seen somethings on the Don Johnson site, I believe.
Nature
We use Dragon Naturally speaking and love it!!
RamonaQ
Guess what? Dh gave me an iPad this week and he put a free Dragon note taking app on it, and I just discovered last night. Remembering this thread, I played with it some. It worked really well. Not perfect, you still would need to carefully read what Dragon writes. However, it looks really cool, and I was shocked how fast it was to write something, way faster than typing.
Nature
The more you use Dragon, the more accurate it becomes. It actually learns your voice.
RamonaQ
Really????? How cool is that. Now I am going to look at it some more.
SailorMom
Cool! I was looking at Dragon Naturally Speaking - but hate to invest in software without knowing much about it. It was between that and (I think it was called) Talk it Type it. DS had speech therapy for 5 years for oral motor apraxia, and when I asked back then they said his speech was way too slushy. But the neuropsych we saw Monday uses it for his reports (I forgot to ask which one....) and said DS should be fine with it. Thanks!
SailorMom
So - I just bought Dragon Speaking Naturally 10, we already have a headset that will work so I didn't have to buy that. It was $30 on Amazon with free shipping. Looks to be the best in our budget range (which is very low at the moment).
RamonaQ
That is PHENOMENAL! Dh and I were discussing this last night, and he was quoting me like $150. Will you report back to us, please, once you have tried it? TIA!
SailorMom
I will! I think it is because a brand new version has come out, so version 10 is now getting much cheaper. :)
motherdear
Yes,I use Dragon NaturallySpeaking 11 and it works phenomenally! It is the newest version out there. I previously used NS Dragon 9 and it was pretty good as well!
RamonaQ
Again, this came up for conversation in our family. How are things going for you all, S.M.? Any feedback? Is Dragon 10 working for you? your nosy-WTM-forum-acquaintance- :tongue_smilie:
SailorMom
Oh - wonderfully :) I installed it for my use after seeing how cool it was for my son! We bought version 10 and it is working great. Since it is the old version - it only cost about $35. I highly recommend it!
