Philothea
We're going to sprout some beans for a plant study unit. What kind of beans do I buy and where can I buy them? Thanks!
Chris in VA
You can use lima beans from the grocery. Chris (who sprouted more than her share during 10 years of preschool teaching! lol )
beansprouts
You can use pretty much any kind of bean. If you soak them overnight in water first they will sprout more easily.
Pata
We used pinto beans and soaked them overnight before planting them. I got a bag of them from Wal-Mart for like $0.
TCoppock
We used lima beans and put them up against the side of a clear plastic cup in order to watch them grow. My DS was very excited about how quickly they grew. He would compare them with our plant chart to tell me the stage of growth multiple times throughout the day. :001_smile: We bought our seeds at walmart. We also bought corn seeds at the same time and compared their growth, roots, and leaves to the lima beans.
Jenmomof3
We're doing plant experiments right now too. We're using lima beans and sunflower seeds. The sunflower seeds are really growing quickly - fun to watch.
