AFwife Claire
I have a friend who is German, married to an American. Her older daughter is 3, and she is working on letters, sounds, etc. My friend speaks to her daughter in both German and American, and she is planning on homeschooling. Her question is about teaching her daughter to read. Should she work on one language at a time? At least German and English share the same basic alphabet, but should she just focus on one pronuncation/letter name, etc. at a time? She of course wants her daughter to read, write, and be fluent in both languages, but she also doesn't want to confuse her. I have no advice for her, but I know there are bilingual parents on here that might have experience in this area! Thanks for any help you can give! AFwife Claire
THANK YOU, Rosie!! That was an amazingly helpful thread that I will be passing on to my friend! Shows how clueless I am--I didn't even KNOW there was a bilingual board on here! LOL, I am decidedly unilingual, unfortunately. Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction!!
