rookie
Looking for verses that deal with pride and perfectionism. In particular, comparing yourself / your life to other people / their lives. Thanks.
Kathleen in VA
Psalm 73 comes to mind. If you want to do a word search in the Bible, I have found www.blueletterbible.com to be very helpful. You can search the word in many different versions of the Bible and read commentaries as well. I just did a search on the words "pride" and "proud" and found quite a few. goldberry
Gal 6:4,5 But let each one prove what his own work is, and then he will have cause for exultation in regard to himself alone, and not in comparision with the other person. For each one will carry his own load. And a personal favorite, Romans 14:4 & 12 4. Who are you to judge the house servant of another? To his own master he stands or falls. Indeed, he will be made to stand, for God can make him stand. 12. So then, each of us will render an account for himself to God. These deal with comparision and judging others, but seem suited to what your question was.

AuntieM
Kathleen's reference is excellent. Remember that you can also search by the desired antonym (ie, "humble" or "humility" in addition to "pride").
Margo out of lurking
Two come to my mind: How can you say to your brother, 'Brother, let me take out the speck that is in your eye, ' when you yourself do not see the log that is in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take out the speck that is in your brother's eye. Luke 6:42 And as they continued to ask him, he stood up and said to them, "Let him who is without sin among you be the first to throw a stone at her."
