? about Three Cups of Tea

Recommended Posts

It's not so much a YA version as a young reader's version. I personally liked the young reader version better. I didn't think the original was very well written and got very bogged down in parts even though I love Central Asia. The YR edition just told the story. The original is certainly not too difficult for a 15yo though (although I imagine some parents would take issue with the details about Greg Mortenson's dating life), and the YR edition is technically too simple for a 15yo.

FWIW, I thought Stones into Schools was excellent. It's a lot more about the CAI and getting the schools built than about Greg Mortenson and I think it's worth reading.

I liked them both. My 10yo and I read it together (me the original, she the YA version) and then did a little question and answer on my blog.

It might give you a chance to see the differences. I hope they come out with a YA for Stones into Schools because we had so much fun reading the books together.
