Pamela H in Texas
Can anyone tell me (or point me to) some DETAILED information about diet, medication (if any), prognosis, etc? The information I found seemed so vague. I appreciate it :) Pamela
kalanamak
Treatment and prognosis varies all over the map. Ask the doc for a much more specific name, e.g. hypertensive nephropathy, diabetic nephropathy, nephropathy from chronic obstruction, lupus, Allport's syndrome, etc. etc. if you want to research it yourself, rather than just get info from the nephrologist. GraceinMD
Pamela, if you go to http://www.aafp.org/afp.xml and then search on the AFP site (on the left near the top) for "chronic kidney disease," you'll find some articles from 2005 that might help. Looks like some have links and patient education handouts, too. HTH. Grace
