Hunter's Moon
and they recommend Wiley Self-Teaching guides for high school science. Has anyone had any experience with using this as the spine for science, specifically Chem? I do not plan on entering a science field as a career, and my mother knows nothing about chem and outsourcing is not really an option. I was planning on using Modern Chemistry as a back up and the MIT open courseware as well. Any reviews? Thanks :)

My son prefers them as they are "just the facts". He also has a AP Zumdahl text that he uses as reference for anything he needs to delve deeper or need more explaination. Melissa in Australia
I bought them, but won't use them. They have the answers right under the questions. Plus I wasn't happy with the actual content. I think it would work for someone that wanted to do a brief catch up or review before going off to uni. I ended going with Apologia, which I am not happy with either, but it is( in my opinion) the better of the two recommendations in WTM. Hunter's Moon
I'm considering using Modern Chemistry, a textbook I got from my high school along with Chemistry for Dummies as the spine. The book sounds degrading but I looked through it at the library and I love it! It also comes with a workbook. I will probably use Wiley's Self-Teaching guide as review and drilling. My Modern Chemistry book doesn't come with a teacher's manual, so doing the problems from the book aren't really an option, but the way everything is presented it clear and precise, so I suppose this will do along with the other two. I was looking at Apologia also, but not really my cup of tea. Lol. Thanks.
