Aludlam
I've decided to purchase a set of solids. Would you please help me??? I Have no idea of how to post links (if someone want s to hijack the thread with directions for this ---- please feel free!). I want to get a set from Amazon (free shipping), b/c I have a gift card. It seems like the choices are primarily wooden, plastic or foam rubber. thanks so much Angela Meant to type "geometric"! lol Edited May 22, 2010 by Aludlam
8filltheheart
Someone on the high school board posted this amazing link. http://nlvm.usu.edu/en/nav/vlibrary.html I would spend some time looking at these and getting a feel for what the purposes are behind the various types and decide according to your desired objectives. helena
I grew up with Montessori Geometric Solids, so I'm bias. :) I'm sure with a little research you could find all sorts of parallel activities, to make the most of them. My favorite was putting on the blind fold and having someone hand them to me to be felt and identified. I like that they're all the same color, and that they're made of wood. I once bought foam, and they seemed less serious to me. If that makes any sense. http://www.amazon.com/Montessori-Geometric-Solids-Stands-Bases/dp/B001RK37DO/ref=sr_1_13?ie=UTF8&s=toys-and-games&qid=1274548164&sr=8-13 We also enjoyed geo solids that can be filled with water or sand, to explore volume.http://www.amazon.com/View-Thru-Geometric-Solids-14-Pieces/dp/B0012NHEK8/ref=sr_1_22?ie=UTF8&s=toys-and-games&qid=1274548209&sr=8-
