nikkinic
My son loves to draw and has an amazing imagination and I'm looking for an art program to use with him. I can't use anything too advanced because he has problems with his fine motor skills and his drawings, while very creative, are not really age appropriate yet. I would love to encourage him in this hobby and allow him to feel successful and not be discouraged . Does anyone have any suggestions? amyrjoy
I don't know if this will help, but I am going to use these two nature journals for my Ker and 2nd grader this fall for art...in fact, we're kinda doing those now. I just let them pick something that interests them, and then we go from there. There are some different techniques they example for drawing and even watercolors... http://www.amazon.com/Keeping-Nature-Journal-Discover-Seeing/dp/1580174930/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1274150804&sr=1-1-spell and http://www.amazon.com/Nature-Through-Journals-Walker-Leslie/dp/1580176143/ref=pd_sim_b_3 And, we do like this book! It's fun and simple!!!! http://www.amazon.com/Ed-Emberleys-Drawing-Book-World/dp/0316789720/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1266437794&sr=8-3#noop

susancollins
Artistic Pursuits and Discovering Great Artist are what I am going to use this fall. My mom is an art teacher and she really liked the programs. I had other moms recommend them to me and say they were both excellent.

coop
I used Artistic Pursuits with my 7 and 5 year olds this year and they really enjoyed it. I really liked it because it wasn't overwhelming for me....I'm no artist:)

susankenny
If you aren't looking for a curriculum per se, ... I would just use the library & the internet. youtube wii have a lot to help your son. Netflix may even have something. Susan

Honey Bee
Not curriculum either, but these are two fun art sites: http://cp.c-ij.com/en/contents/1006/ fun, fun site! may go along with things you are doing in other subjects http://www.artprojectsforkids.org/ This one is awsome. She is an art teacher and keeps a great online "journal" of her ideas and post excellent examples.
nikkinic
I know this is strange, but even though we go to the library just about every week - it never occurred to me to look for art stuff there. They actually had a ton of great stuff!
