  1. We have used AoPS for Prealgebra and Into to Algebra. I am considering looking for something SLIGHTLY less difficult for Geometry (not interested in going to something at the level of Teaching Textbooks etc). Would Jacobs fit this desire, or is it similar in difficulty to AoPS? Any other suggestions?
  2. For that age you might try Miquon, and then Beast when he is older.
  3. Sorry I didn't get back to this sooner. Need to update my signature. My kids are nine (turning 10 late summer).

  7. SOTW is read aloud for us (actually we all listen to the CD's, but we do it together)
  8. I keep thinking there should be an app or a desktop program that is like an AAS white board. DH tells me he doesn't have time to make one, but it doesn't seem too difficult so I thought I would see if anyone has seen something like it... or even something that would be use touch or a mouse with spelling space with the letters listed on the screen in alphabetical order (no need for build in spelling lists/checking etc).
  9. We did half and half. I used the history/geography section of What Your Kindergartner Needs to Know as an outline. We started with the Me on the Map book above. Then we learned about each of the continents (read books from/about some of them, learned about the countries, wildlife, food, culture, art and music in each). Then we did a brief overview of American history.
  10. We used two of your videos today (the spoons and water glasses) to go with our BFSU lesson on sound. It was a great help. The kids did your experiments after watching the videos and really enjoyed it. Well worth the small fee for use of the site.
  11. I call them doodas (I got it from my best friend in high school), but DD sometimes reverses it and calls them dadoos.
  12. :lurk5: We have been slowly doing BFSU this year. I am planning to do RSO life some this summer. Finish BFSU next year and maybe more RSO depending on how we like it. I really like the plan in BFSU and love the explanations, but I think RSO will add some fun and interesting activities.
  13. how well would these work with 2 kids - would I need to purchase two copies?
  14. :lurk5: When one of my friends asked DD in August if she had started school yet, her response was "No, mom won't let us" She is very upset if we have a light school day. Her brother on the other hand want to know who signed him up for this school thing.
  15. For those who have done the archaeological dig from SOTW 1, what items did you put in the box?
  16. I have All About Spelling, but haven't used it yet so :bigear:
  17. Thank you! I was wanting to hear from someone who had it. I read something on Amazon that made me think the pictures were not color. I won't spend the extra $20 now.
