Family Math books??

Has anyone used these? Are they helpful for developing mathematical thinking ability, mental math, etc.?

I'm getting desperate and frustrated with ds. His math anxiety really gets in the way, and I'm trying to find other ways to work on things that are more hands-on.

I love these books. I used to have trouble remembering to pull them out and use them, so I turned many of the games into 'file folder games,' with everything they needed to play and the instructions in a folder. I kep about a dozen at a time in a drawer, and they were one of their 'math lab' choices.

Oooh, good idea! :D I always forget to use my book even though we love it.

I have Family Math for Young Children, Family Math and Family Math 2, we love all of them. They are great for "teaching" math and the kids usually don't even know they are "learning".

Like the pp, I forget to take them off the shelves.. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the idea of making them a file folder game.. we DO get them off the shelf all-the-time!

Oooh! Thank you for this BRILLIANT suggestion! Maybe I can strew them. DS7 only seems to truly enjoy math when he thinks it's his idea so this could work well for that.
