mommyoftwinboys
Do you do this with your kids? I don't mean narrating back something you've read to them but a program where they read something and answer questions. Do you have any recommendations for such a program? My son can read words at a 7/8th grade level but I'm assuming would comprehend what he's reading at a 3/4th grade level...can you help me to choose a program? Guest Cheryl in SoCal
When my children were younger I used one from Abeka (the only thing I've ever used from Abeka:lol:) that I liked. The only thing I didn't like was that it only went up to 6th grade. I think it was called "Read & Think." The student would read a short story (like a few paragraphs) and answered questions about what they'd read. I think they had 5 minutes (maybe less as they got older) to get everything done. LittleHouseHomeschool
I've liked Reading Detective by Critical Thinking Press. Beginning in the 7th grade we use More Reading Comprehension in Varied Subject Matter by EPS (the same publisher as Explode the Code). MrsMe
CLE Reading programs contain a lot! www.clp.org and plug in scope and sequence in the search. It's not just about comprehension, but has excellent critical thinking skills as well. It also tends to be a grade level ahead of the rest. Jamee
I have my son do reading comprehension daily from Edhelper.com Not only is it giving him the reading comprehension, but he has been reading all sorts of stuff too. I usually go with their weekly books. You pick the grade level, whether you want writing assignments with it, and it prints out a set with a couple different topics per day. Quite the mixture of biography, science, geography, history.

lisabees
I mentioned some free resources in this post. Regards, Kareni Awesome! Thank you. OP, here's another option. http://www.glencoe.com/gln/jamestown/lessons/6wayint.html Amazon sells this. If you are okay with Christian content, CLE is great.
